Comfort and Food — Group Therapy over DiningLonely? Nostalgic? Depressed? Anxious? Does food enter the picture when you want to feel connected, relieve stress, nurture yourself, or remember times and people of the past? Group therapy sessions (maximum of eight participants) are being organized which will review the personal associations participants have with food. We will work to have participants gain insight and develop more productive coping skills. In addition to small group discussion, the sessions will consist of hands-on culinary experiences for therapeutic value. Find out what your food habits and memories can tell you about your efforts to meet your needs and desires.
These sessions include having the small group of participants prepare a healthful dinner under the supervision of Dr. Wardle, Therapeutic discussion and sharing over the dining experience follows. Goals include learning more about how food is utilized in one’s life as a maladaptive coping skill rather than as a healthful way of providing nourishmen.
